Here’s a monthly recap of some of the topics covered in last month's Tech Shares—a weekly meeting where the REDspace team shares tools, resources, and general knowledge about the web and technology industry as a whole.

At REDspace, knowledge sharing and continuous learning is at the heart of what we do. We are fortunate to have a wealth of diverse technical skills and a learning culture that really sets us apart. We love technology and finding new ways to solve problems. This helps us deliver the best solutions in the world to our clients.

In order to maximize this, we facilitate a variety of ways to collaborate and knowledge share within and across different teams. Not only does this keep us at the top of our industry, but it also dramatically helps on-boarding new team members to new projects.

One key way we do this is Tech Shares—a weekly meeting where the REDspace team shares tools, resources, and general knowledge about the web and technology industry as a whole. Here’s a monthly recap of some of the topics covered in April Tech Shares.

Intro to Prolog – A short introduction to logic programming with Prolog. Attendees were shown how prolog can easily solve classic logic puzzles like Sudoku and Einstein’s riddle with very little input.

Modular Redux – A redux design pattern which reduces boilerplate, enforces tight encapsulation, and encourages modular and clean code. It allows developers to create components, which are not dependent on redux itself, and instead use custom hooks which return the relevant state.

DRM for Video Part 1 – A basic introduction to Digital Rights Management for Video. Topics covered include the problems it solves, some basic vocabulary, and what a simplified DRM solution looks like in code.

Roku Basics Intro to Roku Development & BrightScript- An introduction to Roku as a development platform, basic development tools, and an outline of the structure of an Roku application. We also covered the specific language BrightScript and its syntax, some examples, and what it’s like to work with.

Google Dialog Flow Contexts – A quick run-through of the natural language processing tools Google has provided for the development of voice-based apps.

Quizbusting 101 – Sam shows us how he hacked the REDspace trivia night and got all the answers ahead of time, and even made it look pretty!
